August 1, 2009 - Former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, the country's first woman president passed away at 3:18 a.m. due to cardiorespiratory attack. She was diagnosed with colon cancer last March 2008.
Her remains was first laid at the La Salle Greenhills Gym which was open for a 2-day wake. The public viewing, drew out thousands of friends, family, supporters, political allies and countrymen who wanted to pay their respects to the former president.

Manila photos hereAugust 3, 2009 - Cory Aquino's remains was moved from La Salle Greenhills Gym to the Manila Cathedral for another 2-day wake. From La Salle the procession passed through EDSA, turning right at Ayala Ave., stopping at the Ninoy Aquino Monumnent for a prayer and a final confetti shower then to Buendia, Osmeña Highway, Quirino Ave., Roxas Blvd. and finally into Intramuros.

August 4, 2009 - People lined-up outside the Manila Cathdral on the last day of the public viewing despite the rains and the very long wait. Despite some who gave up and went home, the line grew longer extending to Muralla St., in Intramuros and circling back to the Cathedral. Souvenir items were sold out. The public viewing was up to 4:00 a.m. the next morning.
Photos from Manila Cathdral hereAugust 5, 2009 - At about 3:30 a.m., President Gloria Arroyo, straight from the airport, visited the wake. A mass was held at 9:00 a.m. before the funeral procession brought Cory's remains to her final resting place at the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque. The 9 hour procession passed through Roxas Blvd. - Quirino - Osmena Highway - Sucat.
